Plot summary: The narrator is tired of his picture perfect life when he meets Tyler Durden. After experiencing his first real fight, he realises even more that it is something else he wants out of life. All the while, Tyler expands Fight Club into Project Mayhem, toward a goal no one knows but him.
First impression after a few pages was confusing - a feeling that held on through the book. More than the nameless narrator and the way the dialouges are written as if one-sided it was the timeline that was disorienting. It is a novel that balances on the edge of being too strange, but manages to remain interesting. A large part of that is due to its urgent and relevant message to shun materialism and our strive toward the "perfect life". Another part is due to the struggle between Tyler and the narrator, portrayed a lot more intricately here than in the movie with the same name. Another positive surprise compared to the movie was Marla, who I thought was given much more depth and significance. All in all I suppose that comparison boils down to that the storyline was easier to understand in the movie, but the meaning of Fight Club and how Palahniuk wanted to portray our society is more prominent in the novel.
